 Some days after the funeral, special train took Gandhiji’s asahes to Allahabad. the compartment was  decked with flowers. People on the train sang bhajans. People did not weep anymore for they could feel Gandhiji’s presence amid the flowers and the songs.At every station sorrowful crowds feel the platform.Amid  song and  prayer the train reached Allahabad. The ashes very much in the Ganges very huge crowd head gathered at the bank. Afterwards we all went back to Delhi.

 back in Delhi’ I  felt at sea.  I had not directly walked with Gandhiji, gone to prison at his call or made any sacrifice for my country. my sister and I and other young people like me, had been merely   onlookers. but still I felt  at sea. I failed I had grown up within a magic circle. with Bapu’s passing away, I feel the magic circle  had vanished, living me unprotected.

 with an effort I roused myself, I asked myself- had Bapu lived and died for nothing? how could I so easily loose courage when he was no longer there? my values were not so weak. millions of people would have been ordinary folk but for Bapu. he brought them out of indifference and awakened them to one another suffering. what is now Bapu is gone? we were still there, young, strong and proud to bear his banner before us.

3.Read the following passage and answer the questions that follow:

More than 3500 hectares of mangrove plantation have been done in the Sundarbans by the forest department in order to protect the Delta from soil erosion as well as storm and cyclones.Large Swathes  of mangroves had God damaged in the Sundarbans with cyclone Amphan  struck.  other factors like cutting down forests to make way for the pisciculture ponds and farming feels have also play a part in this.

 according to a senior official of the forest department, many times of thousands of migrant labours had written to the mangrove Delta during the Covid-induced lockdown. Many of them to and alternate livelihood. Some started farming and fishing in local ponds on a small scale and to make way for these large Swathes of mangroves had been cut down leaving the area exposed to the vagaries of stroms as well as soil erosion. The department had roped in the help of joint forest Management committees and local women to plant Mangrove saplings.According to an estimate by the end of 2022 around 17.5 lakh saplings will be planted. 

 Milan  Mondal, the divisional forest official of south 24-Parganas, said their  efforts were paying of as the villagers themselves have  realised the importance of the mangrove cover after the Sundarbans was lashed with back to back cyclones, including Amphan and yass. In areas like  Lothian Island, G plot and  Frasergunj, mangrove saplings have been planted on as many as 230 acres.The forest department has also managed to generate employment for more than 12500  villagers.

Short Biography of Sukumar Ray

Sukumar Ray was a Bengali writer and poet from the Indian subcontinent. he rememberd mainly for his writings for children. he was born on 13th October 1887 in mymensingh. He was the son of children story writer Upendra Kishore Ray Chowdhury and father of Indian film maker  Satyajit Ray. The name of his mother was Bidhumukhi Devi.He attended City College School in his childhood days and in 1906, Ray graduated with double honours in Physics and Chemistry from The Presidency College, then affiliated with the University of Calcutta.He was trend in photography and printing technology from England at the school of Photo -Engraving  and Lithography, London and was a pioneer of photography and lithography in India. Besides a photographer Sukumar Ray was also writer and Illustrator. He was the publisher of the famous children’s magazine ‘ Sandesh’. He was notable for writing “nonsense” rhymes in Bengali literature like Abol Tabol , Pagla Dashu,HaJaBaRaLa etc. His famous creation of the  characters Like Kumropotash in Abol Tabol ,Hijibiji in HaJaBaRaLa. Sukumar Ray  died on 10th September 1923 in Kolkata from leishmaniasis for which there was no cure at the time.

Respected sir,
                       I shall be highly obliged if you kindly allow me to ventilate my words in your daily journal regarding  rash driving by young stars now-a-days. This problem is now a thinkable problem in our society. I had like to bring to your attention the subject of rising accident on local roads as a result of driving by many teenagers and some irresponsible heavy truck drivers.Nobody seems to care about traffic rules, and noone seems to want to obey them. The number of traffic accidents has increased dramatically in recent years. This is occurring mostly as a result of reckless driving. Many hit and run accident incident are happening creating a dangerous environment for children, the elderly,pedestrians, drivers and other people. The offenders are fleeing from the site of the incident without being caught.This kind of irresponsible driving has taken so many lives  in the near past. Drivers should obey the traffic rules properly. Police should also look out for the matter with varied care. Life is so precious, we should be more responsible on this matter.

 As a reason I respectfully request that you publish this subject in your prestigious publication in order to bring it to the notice of the relevant statutory authorites and the general public.Kindly do spreading awareness, bring the offenders to justice and save the lives of countless innocent people. Time of attendance –  participants-  programmes –  significance of celebrating the day.

INDEPENDENCE DAY

 Independence day was celebrated in our school on 15th August with great  enthusiasm and patriotic fervor.The school campus was beautifully decorated with flags and balloons to commemorate the day. All the students and teachers gathered in the school premises at 8:00 a.m. in the morning. In the presence of a gleefull gathering , the national flag was hoisted by the principal of the school. A solemn  speech was given by the principle to pay homage to the brave Martyrs of the country. Then the secretary of the school discussed in brief the significance of the Independence Day. After that, melodious patriotic song where sung by the students of our class 10 section A. Cultural activities such as dance, drawing competition, quizzes and debates were organised by the school the winners were given prizes. At the end of the programme  sweets and chocolates were distributed to everyone. The program ended by singing the National Anthem.
